Risk Management Services (RMS) - An SCM Company

CURIE funded RMS Engineering Services available.

Plan Review

Involving RMS in the specification process of a fire suppression system (e.g. sprinkler system) can prevent numerous future problems and expenses due to improper design or installation.

RMS will review sprinkler system plans  and related hydraulic calculations with regards to current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements as well as current Building and Fire Codes if required. A review prior to installation reduces the potential for improper installation or misunderstanding of the requirements for the installation of a fire suppression system.

University Water Supply Surveys for New Construction and Renovation Projects

RMS will conduct surveys and assess the available water supply by conducting hydrant flow tests and an analysis of the water supply grid system for a University campus with respect to fire flow requirements. These fire flow requirements can be for individual fire suppression systems or for the entire campus.  This can be very advantageous at the design stage by ensuring a water supply distribution system capable of meeting both current and future fire flows.

New Building Inspections (New Service 2011)

As part of the services offered by RMS to CURIE members is the completion of "New Building Inspections".  This service not only encompasses inspections of newly constructed buildings and substantially renovated buildings but also existing buildings that may be new to the university property portfolio.  These buildings may come to the university as a result of bequeath, a direct gift or by other means. For new buildings and those undergoing substantial renovation the new inspection service will be of most benefit when the building is reaching the substantial completion stage.  To allow adequate time to arrange an inspection please contact CURIE well in advance.

  • This inspection will provide an independent review on YOUR behalf
  • This inspection willl ensure a consistent standard of care is applied to all buildings, new or existing
  • This inspection will provide an early alert to possible future problems
  • This inspection will illustrate due diligence in mitigating any risk that may be associated with the new building
  • This inspection will help to identify deficiencies where they may exist and offer solutions for remediation

Customized Loss Prevention Work

RMS is available to work with an individual University with regard to reviewing and assessing specific, non-maintenance areas of concern at a particular University including sprinkler plans and drawings.
